When we launched our new website, we introduced a refined description of who we are. Rimbal is a national platform for independent financial advice firms.
It is a concise line, but it represents an important step in our story. In recent years, “financial services and technology group” was an accurate description. Rimbal brought together regulated financial services, proprietary technology, data, insurance, finance and business support. That wording explained what sat within the organisation. It did not fully explain why those capabilities existed, or how they increasingly work as one.
Today, the answer is clear: we power independent financial advice.
Rimbal has progressed from building complementary capabilities to building and operating an integrated platform. We have deliberately developed and connected the infrastructure that advice firms need to start, run and grow: regulatory frameworks; technology, data and AI; adviser systems; provider relationships; compliance and business services; and support for growth and succession.
These are not separate businesses gathered under a holding company that operates as a conglomerate. They are connected capabilities, whose value grows together, and that power one platform, designed around a shared purpose: helping independent firms to operate more effectively and deliver better client outcomes.
Our go-to-market model reflects that structure. Rimbal is the platform. Distinct, branded service propositions are the ways firms access it.
ValidPath remains our flagship proposition. Alongside ValidPath we now have additional propositions that will serve new and adjacent independent financial advice markets (more on that later).
National. In the UK advice market this word carries a particular meaning, so let me be precise. We are not a national advice firm. We do not exist to employ advisers, own client relationships or centralise advice into a house view. We use national in its plain sense. We operate nationally, supporting firms across every part of the UK from offices in London, Cardiff and our team across the UK. Advice stays local and independent, delivered by firms who know their clients. What is national is the infrastructure standing behind them.
Platform. Not a platform in the custody and wrap sense, but a platform in the sense that firms run on it. It carries the regulated permissions, systems, data and services a modern advice business needs, and absorbs costs, complexity and technical burden no single firm should shoulder alone. Because there is one platform, every enhancement we make can benefit each proposition and every firm on it at the same time.
Advice. We say advice rather than adviser, and we chose that deliberately. Advice is delivered by people today, and it will continue to be. It will increasingly be delivered by people supported by intelligent systems, and in time through AI-driven models that potentially do not exist yet. Anchoring our language to a job title rather than to the outcome could imply a narrow ambition, and we intend to support all of it, provided it is genuinely independent and genuinely in the client’s interest.
Much of our market is consolidating and restricting, on the view that margin comes from owning more of the chain, owning the client, and controlling the adviser and investment proposition. We read the economics differently. We believe the greater long-term opportunity is in enabling independence rather than restricting it.
As advice becomes increasingly personalised and supported by AI, the best outcomes will depend on access to the widest possible range of products, providers and solutions—not a closed, vertically integrated proposition limited by ownership or margin maximisation. At the same time, advice will increasingly be delivered through a combination of human-led and AI-driven channels, creating a much broader market than traditional models can ever address.
At Rimbal, we see a future in which personalised, independent financial advice is universally accessible, delivered through human expertise and responsible AI working together. That is what we are building at Rimbal: one platform, multiple propositions and a growing network of independent firms, ready for the next era of financial advice.
Independence is everything. It always has been. Now there is a platform to help it thrive into the future.
